The Annual Report of 2016-17

Introduction: The Honourable President of today’s programme His Excellency Most. Rev. Dr. A. A. S. Durairaj, Bishop of Khandwa Diocese, The Honourable Dr. D. P.Parihar, D.I.G. Barwaha and Rev. Sr. Bastina, FSPM the Regional Superior, Rev. Fr. Benny, the Secretary, Khandwa Diocesan Education Society, Rev. Fr. Philip, the Vicar General of Khandwa Diocese, Rev. Fr. Augustine, the Procurator of Khandwa Diocese, Rev. Fr. Jomon Varghese, the Manager of our School, Rev. Fathers, Sisters, Brothers, our beloved parents, my dearest teaching and non-teaching staff and all the well-wishers. Your presence gives immense joy and happiness. We extend a warm and cordial welcome to everyone arrived here today. With a deep sense of gratitude to God and with the feeling of fulfillment we present the Annual Report of our school for the academic year 2016-17. Our school has completed 33 fruitful years with various milestones. At the outset, I thank the Almighty God for all the blessings showered on us during this great year.

The inauguration of the academic session 2016-17 commenced on 1st April 2016 with an inter-religious prayer service invoking the blessings of the Almighty God.

Strength of the School: The school has 1301 students on its roll, comprising 738 boys and 563 girls.

Staff: The School has a team of efficient staff consisting 39 teaching and 10 supporting staff and a host of visiting staff to impart the best quality education and to mould the lives of our students. Our teachers have attended various seminars to update themselves with the modern techniques. A seminar for teachers on “Personality Development” was conducted by Fr. Alwyn.

Academic Excellence: The aim of education is to provide knowledge, develop skills, attitudes and values which are essential to personal development.

Academic Results 2015-16 : Ms. Anushka Bhandari of Class XII Secured 82.4% and Palak Laad of Class X Secured 9.6 CGPA.

Cabinet Formation: The cabinet assumed their responsibility on 11th July 2016 for the academic year 2016-17. Saloni Sharma was elected the head girl and Ayush Jha the head boy. Captains and Vice-captains of four houses were also selected. In a short ceremony, the cabinet pledge its allegiance to the school in maintaining its ethical values and tradition.

Seminars: A seminar for students on “Career Guidance and Counselling” and seminar for parents on “Better parent-hood” were conducted by Mr. Pankaj Kothari.

Science Exhibition: Science exhibition was held on October 15th 2016 in our school auditorium.

Quiz: Maths & Science Quiz was conducted on October 14th 2016.

Extra Curricular activities: By providing a conducive and encouraging environment the students are encouraged to nurture their talents through various competitions. Such as Story telling, Slogan writing, Dance, Mehandi, News reading, Painting, Essay writing, Rangoli, Rakhi making, Fancy dress and traditional wear.

Sports and Games:. Our students participated in various sports and games organized by District, Division and State authorities.

Our student Dheeraj Singh Patel of Class VIII won Gold medal in Kabaddi at State level.

From our school 4 students got selected at State level in Football & Kabaddi. Our students got selected in Kho-Kho, Football, Chess and Kabaddi at Division Level.

A sports week was organized from 17th October to 22nd October 2016. Inter-house matches were held for Football, Cricket, Volley Ball, Kho-Kho and dodge ball. Participants displayed their Sports man Spirit, team work in their competition. The overall championship for both seniors and juniors went to “Red House”.

Celebrations and festivity: India is a pluralistic country with rich cultural and religious festivals. We solemnly celebrated all the important religious and National festivals such as Independence day, Teachers day, Gandhi Jayanti, Swatch Bharat Swatch Vidhyalaya Abhiyan, National Unity day, Madhya Pradesh Establishment day, Children’s day and Diwali etc.

Syllabus and Curriculum : The school strictly follows the syllabus and curriculum of CBSE. To build up the future citizens with social values we insist value education through Moral Science classes.

Parents Teacher Meet: We organize Parents teachers meetings timely in the school  to present child’s overall development to their parents.

Donations for Social cause: A sum of Rs. 1,62,370 was voluntarily collected by the teachers and students and donated to Divine Charitable trust.

Facilities in the School:

(i) Rest rooms and drinking water facilities: Separate spacious rest rooms were constructed for the boys and the girls and added drinking water facilities with RO system have been introduced.
(ii) New administrative block: The new administrative block with class rooms was constructed.
(iii) Playground: Playground is being extended to avail the sports-opportunities to our students.
(iv) KG block: The KG block is being extended and renovated to add facilities to our KG students.
(v) CCTV cameras: Several class rooms along with the staff room and the administrative block have been fitted with CCTV cameras for better administration and convenience.
(vi) Formation of a new band: The school has formed a new band. It is being trained by Mr. Sunil, an expert band Master from Kerala. This year special focus was given to improve the quality of the band.
(vii) School website: We regularly post all our school activities and information on our website. We request you all to log on to our website www.stmarysbarwaha.in.

Discipline: The school maintains its discipline sparing rod emphasizing the concept that ‘the school is the next home” and the effect is seen in the students’ behavioural pattern.

Conclusion: Before concluding this report, I bow my head in reverence to the Almighty God for His blessings. May I take this opportunity to express my deepest gratitude to students, staff both teaching and non-teaching, parents, benefactors and well wishers for their whole hearted co-operation.

May God lead us through the patroness of our school, Blessed Virgin Mary in the years ahead and to keep us in the path of love and service.
